Gator Basketball Pep Band

The Gator Basketball Pep Band is an audition-based and scholarship-earning ensemble.  Membership is open to any full-time UF student. 

The Pep Band performs at all Gator men's and women's home basketball games with a repertoire selected from a wide variety of pep band tunes as well as all of the favorite Gator cheers! Auditions take place in early October and typically consist of major scales, chromatic scale, and sight-reading. Following a successful audition, the Pep Band Roster is divided into three separate bands of approximately 25 members each. Men’s games feature two of the bands and women's games feature one of the bands. The Pep Band also travels to all SEC and NCAA tournaments. Interested students should contact Dr. Birkner for more information.

Auditions for the 2023-2024 Basketball Pep Band will now be held Sunday Oct 8th, 2023 at 7:00pm in the Steinbrenner Band Hall.

Wind players will be asked to play major scales, chromatic scale (full range) and sight-read.

Electric Bass players will be asked to sight-read.

Drumset players will be asked to play various styles (e.g. medium rock, fast rock, swing, (2) Latin grooves)

Gator Volleyball Pep Band

Like the Gator Basketball Band, this ensemble is an audition-based and scholarship-earning ensemble. Membership is open to any full-time UF student. The Volleyball Pep Band performs at all home Gator volleyball games as well as SEC and NCAA tournaments. Auditions usually occur the first week of the fall semester and include major scales, chromatic scale, and sight-reading.

Auditions for the 2023 Volleyball Pep Band will be held Wednesday August 23rd, 2023 at 7:30pm in the Steinbrenner Band Hall.
